Navigating Your Own Way

Over the past 15 years working as a holistic practitioner, I have found that clients benefit most when I draw on the different modalities in which I have trained, including acupuncture, massage, and reflexology. In my view, one size does not fit all; an integrative model allows the work to be tailored to each individual’s needs.

More recently, I have had the privilege of studying Integrative Psychotherapy, which, like integrative bodywork, draws on several theories rather than a single model. During my degree, I explored theories such as Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), Choice Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Gestalt therapy.

The client is always in the driver’s seat, navigating their own life, choosing the destination, and deciding how fast or slow to travel. My role is to sit in the passenger seat as a supportive co-pilot. I am never here to take the wheel or dictate the route; instead, I travel alongside a collection of different maps.

Depending on the terrain we encounter, whether we need the structural street grid of CBT to map out thought patterns, the topographic awareness of Gestalt therapy to tune into present-moment sensations, or the warm, steady guidance of PCT and CF approaches when the road gets dark. I can offer a map to help navigate a roadblock or find the way back on course.
